"H" continues...

This week Mads and Warren finished "Husky in a Hut" in their nightly book series, Mads did projects on "Haiti" and "Hippos", lots of fun "H" worksheets, and went to Hip Hop dance class. Jacob's library storytime this week even had the theme of "Houses and Homes"!

Life is a hoot in our home in the Hammond Bay area of the Hub city when:

We drive around in our "Happy Honda Odyssey". I always laugh and say that we are homelearners but never home!:

We watched a few of the Herbie movies:

The kiddos did some hill-rolling:

We found a heart-shaped rock:

We played a few games of Harvest Time:

Mads pulled out the three "H" books from our Value Book series:

She also stacked up all of her library chapter books (123!) in a HUGE pile:

She learned HOW to fish at a 4 hour Parks-taught Sunday event:

As a very rare lunch, we ate hotdogs!:

Mads and Warren watched a horse movie and then sketched a horse:

One warm evening, we had a game of street hockey (complete with helmets!):

Oh, and with the playoffs on, Warren (and kids) have been watching hockey, too:

Of course, we read lots of "H" library books:

Jacob was my helper in the kitchen (he loves to bake!):

We organized a homelearner helicopter tour:

Mads and Jacob did a hairy "H" craft:

Jacob went days begging for us to 'make a HazMat truck'. I tried putting him off, hoping he'd forget but no-go. Eventually, this is what we (translation: I) created, and he still plays with it, days later! He filled it with Playmobil little tools and fire extinguishers and helmets:

Mads did a fun thrift-store found workbook on Hawaii:

We took the bus to the Harbourfront library location and found this book:

The kids and I took a trip to the local Habitat for Humanity location - wandered round, donated something to the Re-Store, chatted about what the organization does, and even met a man who works there whose family lives in a Habitat house now!:

Happy times!

"G" weeks gone.

In our "G" weeks, Madison and Daddy dropped garbage off at the garbage dump, Jacob helped Daddy at the gas station, we shopped at the grocery store, did gardening, ate greek food, cut the grass, and had the gutters cleaned.

Some more of our adventures in our "G" weeks, pictured below:

Madison did her research projects on Germany and giraffes:

We played games, especially this one:

Madison grew grass on the window-sill:

Jacob wanted me to take a picture of our grape juice:

Gingerbread babies was the decor for our learning area:

We loved our "Picture Perfect" geometric design tiles set on Saturday morning, here is one of our creations:

During church, Madison worked hard to create this garden craft (complete with glitter glue!):

Madison and Jacob worked at preparing their garden area for planting:

I thought that I should take a few photos of Madison's gallery of art that we have growing in the basement:

While in the States, we went to the Gymboree outlet and bought a few sets of the much-loved Gymbo bubbles:

We jammed along to a new CD from the library:

These little guys ("Gronkle" from a new movie?) were a gift on the long drive home from our U.S. trip! We next to never eat McD's, and never get the Happy Meal toy, but for some reason did both on our trip, and Jacob LOVED them - kept him busy for a good while! He called them "Grunkles" and then just "Uncle" when he forgot the real name!

Our super-traveller Madison didn't stop grinning the whole way:

We snacked on grapes on the ferry on the way there:

Mads made a list of chapter books (33 in all!) as her reading goal for the weekend:

Jacob got goofy with Grandad:

Aunty Linda demonstrated her amazing gluing skills:

The cousins were all given gifts as a group and waited so patiently:

We went to a great children's museum in the Seattle area. One of the favourites of the kids was a gigantic magnetic board filled with geometric shapes:

Jacob also played grocery store:

and gardening:

While there, Mads also grooved with the geometric shapes on this light table:

Jacob loving Aunt Jo's geometric foam blocks:

And we all learned some American geography with Aunt Jo's U.S. map:

But one of our favourite parts of the trip, was goo-ing and gaa-ing over the newest member of the family, new baby Kaytlyn, a gorgeous grinning 3-month-old girl:

Home again, we made a big batch of granola:

Read lots of "G" library books:

Oh, here is our glitter "G" craft:

G'night!
